Book made in China, 1969, by the Foreign Language Press Peking in the German language. The title of the book reads:”Down with the new tsars!”, and the subtitle:””China Hostile atrocities of the Soviet revisionists on the Wusuli and Helung rivers””.
The Sino-Soviet border conflict was a seven month undeclared military conflict between the Soviet Union and China in 1969, following the Sino-Soviet split. The most serious border clash, which brought the world’s two largest socialist states to the brink of war, occurred near Damansky (Zhenbao) Island on the Ussuri (Wusuli) River in Manchuria. Clashes also took place in Xinjiang.
The location of the incident the PLA soldiers took part in, was once an uninhabited islet located on the Ussuri River between the border of China and Soviet Union. An agreement was made between China and Russia in 1991 that Zhenbao Island was Chinese territory.
