Desktop made in the Soviet Union. This is a handmade memorial piece for the victims of the war. According to the story it would have been made in a POW camp, but there is no way to verify this. The cross is made of brass and is attached with a pin joint, so tight that it seems to be made of 1 piece. Base is of stacked bronze layers. Everything is handmade, even the bolt on the bottom. The inscription text reads:”Tatarino 1942″. In July 1942 Tatarino was occupied by the Nazi invaders and in January 1943, as a result of the offensive operation Ostrogozh-Rossoshan, the village was liberated by units of the 106th tank brigade, which was part of the third tank army.
