Pin made in the Soviet Union. The text on the pin reads:”Sverdlovsk”. This monument is located in front of the train station, and is affectionately called “mittens” by locals. This is because it represents the union of the front (soldiers) and rear (factory workers) during WW2, who worked together, like a “hand in glove”.
The sculpture of soldier and metal worker is 6 meters tall. It shows a bearded metal worker, who reaches out with a huge glove and beside him is a tank commander.
The sides of the base have reliefs. One side is dedicated to WW2 combat and the other to metal workers. The monument was installed in 1962, and the architects were V. M. Druzin and P. Sazhin. The script on the front of the monument, mentions the Urals volunteer 30th tank corps, which was formed in 1943. The tanks lined up in this square before leaving for the front.
