Postcard made in the DDR with a picture of Interhotel Under Den Linden. The Unter den Linden was a hotel in Berlin, operated by Interhotel (from 1992 by Interhotel AG).
As a result of the DDR’s 1961/62 city center planning an eight-story hotel was built between 1964 and 1966 according to a design by the architects Boy, Riechert, Scharlipp, and Vieroth. The hotel opened on June 10, 1966, with more than 340 single and double rooms. The hotel lobby featured a sculpture of a flower girl by the sculptor Christa Sammler. In early 2006, the building was demolished to make way for a new building, the Upper Eastside Berlin complex, completed in 2008.
